Here's a Outrigger Keauhou Review with pictures.
Preparer's notes
The Outrigger Keauhou has some great features you won't find everywhere like their open air bar and restaraunt with a deck above some beautiful tide pools brimming with life. Many reviewers remarked on the view and snorkeling next door, saying it is some of the best in Hawaii. Over all a great place to stay for a romantic vacation with a great ambiance.
Lisa's thoughts
The Outrigger Keauhou Beach Hotel is located at the far end of Alii Drive (not the end with all the shops and downtown Kailua-Kona) right next to Kahaluu Beach. I have stayed there myself, and found it to be a nice, inexpensive hotel with typical amenities and a unique tidepool view. What is not typical for the Big Island is the fantastic beach next door. This beach is probably the best snorkeling beach on the island. The sand area is a little small, and the beach is not one of those gorgeous-looking ones you see in the postcards, but there are fish everywhere and almost always between 2 and 10 sea turtles eating limu out of the tidepools. You can walk or swim right up to these giant turtles (please don't touch!). The bay area is also somewhat protected from waves by a rocky reef.
