I found 25 useable reviews -- 22 positive ones, and 3 negative ones.

Preparer's notes
Almost every guest of the Whaler thought the location was great but there were very mixed reviews on the staff and service. Some people said the rooms and amenities they paid for were not available on arrival and no compensation was given, while others thoguht the staff was rather helpful all around. Another common complaint was that the parking lot was often full.

Of the people who liked the Whaler, 12 liked it because the location was close to Black Rock, Whaler Village, shopping, and grocery stores, 9 because the view of the sunsets was beautiful, 5 because the units were spacious, even the studios, 7 said they liked it because the rooms were kept clean, 5 stated the pool was quiet and the beach felt private, 6 reviewers liked it because the staff was very nice, 3 liked it because the full kitchen was a nice way to save money on food.

negative reviews
Of the people who didn't like the condominium hotel, 1 didn't like it because there was little view even in an ocean view room, 2 people thought there was a musty smell in one or all of the rooms, 3 because the unit was dusty, old, and had stains on the carpet, 4 said the staff was rude and often made the guests feel unwelcome, 2 found the buildings and some decor looked dated, 4 reviewers didn't like it because the parking garage was often full.
